EXPO CHICAGO will team with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago to launch the fair with the return of Vernissage, an exclusive opening night preview celebration that for many years was a highlight of the city’s social and cultural calendar.
Set for Wednesday, September 19, 2012 and co-chaired by Jennifer Aubrey and Marilyn Fields, the event will offer first viewing of the works, as well as the opportunity to meet members of the international art and design communities. Vernissage offers a memorable evening of entertainment, food and drinks while guests experience a first look at artworks presented by over 100 leading international and contemporary art galleries. Proceeds from Vernissage will benefit the MCA.
Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art offers exhibitions of the most thought-provoking art created since 1945. The MCA documents contemporary visual culture through painting, sculpture, photography, video, film and performance. Visitors can directly experience the work and ideas of living artists in order to understand the historical, social and cultural context of the art of our time. The MCA aspires to engage a diverse audience, create a sense of community and be a place for discussion about contemporary art and culture.
